Kill switch for the rear hatch lock actuator

I keep some large items in the rear of my 96 4Runner that I'd rather not have stolen. They're large enough that they will only come out through the rear hatch door.

My plan is to make a hidden kill switch to interrupt power to the rear door so that any would-be thieves will not be able to unlock it using the front door controls.

Can anyone guide me on which wire I'm looking for? Do I need to interrupt the positive or negative for this circuit?

Many thanks

Edit: found this wiring schematic for a 2002, but I have no idea how to read it

Almost everything on a 3rd Gen is Negative Ground Switched. Honestly just put your switch on the negative side.

The OP had a legit question so I'm compelled to correct the spelling in your rather unhelpful answer: you meant 'Hare-brained' as in rabbit, so Happy Easter.

This is the second post I've seen asking about this, but neither has any follow-up.

Curious if anyone ended up doing this?
