1997 3rd 4Runner:AC won't get cold

Verified the clutch is engaging when the button is pushed. AC not getting cold. Can see liquid in little site glass thingy at front of condenser where the tube is. Low on R134?

Gauges

Rent a set of gauges and find out if system is low, there must be enough to make it cycle but won't cool. grab the low side line (large line) and feel if cold.

Low on freon

Mine was doing the same thing. A quick trip to Walmart for a can of freon that comes with a gage and I now have cold air. I also have over one half of the $36 can left.
