Fuel filter to AN fitting adapter?

Wondering if anyone has adapted their fuel filter to AN fittings? I think I found the correct adapter but just want to make sure before I pull the trigger. I’m running AN lines because I have an f150 tank relocated in the rear, I used rubber lines originally but didn’t realize the ones I got were for carbureted engines only. I found out these lines were not meant for fuel injected engines because I was able to smell gas vapors through the rubber which lead me to look up what I had purchased. Anyways I believe I read that the fuel filter threads are 14mm x 1.5 with a flared end which this appears to be.

TL;DR will this work to adapt the fuel filter to AN fittings?

Fuel filter to AN fitting adapter?

Get off my FB stuff!!!

I’ve been ck templating this for a while.

Seems the best way to run lines with the relocation of the F150 tank.

I’m not sure about the M14 threads; but can check it out when I get home tonight.

What size/type line did you use?

Yea it does seem like the best solution, just kinda spendy for what it is. I’ve read in several places that it’s 14x1.5 threads but I think the main thing I’m concerned with is the flare on the filter being the same as this fitting. Although after doing some reading on the Supra forums it seems like it will probably work. For the fuel lines I used 1/4” for the smaller lines and 5/16 line from the filter. When I switch to AN I’m going to use -4AN for the smaller and -6AN from the filter. I also have a 1/2” line that goes from the tank to the filler neck that I’m going to replace with -8AN. All the other connections are going to get the compression x AN adapters but I thought it would be nice to be able to connect directly to the filter.

This is the hose I used, basically the same for each size. (Don’t use this hose unless your running a carbureted engine)

See the link Topher posted; but short version:

AN came from WWII and stands for Army/Navy fitting.

In an attempt to streamline production; and allow some parts interchangeability; they came up with a ‘standard’ fitting for the Army and Navy.

I see you already got an answer, but I was going to answer with one word:

SEXY

They come in all kinds of fancy anodized colors and are found all over race car plumbing.

That said, AN compatible fittings can show up on all kinds of devices....this fuel shutoff valve for example.

Please do.

Because I’m about to finish my bumper mounting and want to know if this works or not for my F150 swap.

Sorry took so long to post this. So I haven’t pressurized it yet and not 100% sure if this is the intended application but I think it should work. It has a crush washer instead of the flared end and it’s supposed to seal on the outer surface of the fuel filter. That’s what I saw on the Supra forum at least. It is the correct thread pitch but not the same length, the new fitting doesn’t even touch the flare on the filter.

The brand I got was vibrant performance but I think they are pretty much all similar/same.

If that fitting doesn’t work, you can try this one.

Link for fitting

Says it’s for power steering, but it has the correct size fittings and it says the filter end is inverted flare. I’ve never used an inverted flare fitting with an o-ring though

I did see that one too, I guess the reason I went with the one I did was because I saw someone on the Supra forums use it. I’m almost done with the AN lines, should have them hooked up by tonight so we shall see.

Look at the threads on the factory line. See the dirt line?

Line the threads of the AN adapter up with the *clean* threads of the factory one; and see how much more there is. (If that makes sense.)

I’d be curious to see if that adapter actually would seal without the washer; seeing has how it’s flared.

My one concern with that would be the pitch/diameter of the flare vs a factor line flare/diameter.

Good eye, I didn’t notice the dirt line lol. I’m gunna try it with the washer and see what happens. The flare is definitely different on the AN fitting. Ill try to start the truck later today to see if I have any leaks.
