cali emissions engine into federal 4r

Hi All,

My 4R needs an engine and it is a federal emissions car. I have found a cheap but trusty cali emissions engine that I would like to put in. I've been doing some digging and see that I would need to at least swap the intake manifolds, is there anything else?

I'm pretty sure the only major difference between cali and federal engines is in the exhaust. I've never heard of the intake manifolds being different or seen different part numbers for federal and cali intake manifolds listed.

Exhaust is the only difference. There are other minor differences through the years with vacuum hose routing, etc.

The year makes a bigger different than the emission type. If the year more than 2 years older/newer than your current engine you'll be swapping over the old engine wire harness.

If your switching computers as well, then you will need the wideband o2 sensor that goes with it. It's different than federal.
