That is the standard test for the ECT and IAT.

If you remove your Rad cap is the coolant touching the bottom of the cap?

In a properly operating cooling system all the air should be purged via the Rad cap and expansion tank in three heat cycles.

If you squeeze your upper Rad hose with a cold engine can you hear coolant going into the expansion tank?
