You can't go wrong with OEM Toyota filters. Someone a long time ago tore apart a bunch of different manufacturer filters to compare the filter material in them. The OEM filter appeared to be one of the best in regards to the amount of filter media it had.

Article was in Toyota 4WD Magazine. I have a copy of it, unfortunately they didn't have filtration capability specs so it's all about construction. I agree, I think the Toyota filter is probably as good as the best, or close to it.

I've said this before but why not repeat myself.

Toyota filters at the dealer are priced very reasonably. There is not much money to be saved buying auto parts store filters, unless you are picking the cheapest. Toyota only for me.

And there is only a couple ounces difference between the D1 and D3.

My local Walmart sells Toyota OEM filters, that's where I get mine.

Well, just to add another opinion. I use a pricy oversized synthetic-medium NAPA Platinum PFL 41516. I use SuperTech 5w-30 Full Synthetic, so I save on oil what I spend on the filter. I keep the OCI at 6500 to 7K even though Blackstone keeps telling me I could go longer.

I can't prove it's better, and I certainly won't argue about it, but I feel good about my choice.

Newbie here on 3rd Gen forum but what is the correct oil filter part number for a 2000 Limited with 3.4L six? Seems like folks are throwing around two different OEM part numbers? Thanks guys.

Oil Filter 90915-YZZD1 (standard size) or 90915-YZZD3 (larger size)
