3.4l 5vz-fe headers
Does anyone know if the red back headers that are for the Toyota hilux fits the same engine on a 3rd gen 4runner? I ended up cutting my exhaust out while taking my heads out to redo the head gasket. Would rather straight pipe it out vs using the crossover pipe. So headers and dual exhaust is essentially what I am doing. Not for more horsepower just for ease at this point. Here is the link I was looking at.

That product is made for the Australian market with right-hand drive vehicles. Just looking at it, I don't think it will fit a 4x4 4Runner due to interference with the front drive shaft and transfer case. That is why the exhaust cross-over is behind the engine and the exhaust runs down the right side.

FWIW I've read headers require you to relocate TONS of stuff in the engine bay, so it might not be as easy as you assume it to be

Hilux may have a 5VZ-FE, but think of it as only the long block. The exhaust, intake, accessories and everything else is different. Toyota even changed the exhaust manifolds for the 4Runners from 96-00 and 01-02 that are NOT interchangeable.
Back to the question, no they will not fit. You'd have to use just the headers and fabricate your own downpipe and X or Y pipe as it'll hit the transmission and/or transfer case. You'll also lose ground clearance with custom piping unless you have an exhaust shop do it for you.

I did two head gaskets by removing the exhaust studs from the heads.
Most of the studs came out just trying to remove the nuts.

That’s what I wanted to do. As I said I would run dual exhaust as long as the headers fit on the heads.

I would email Redback and get their input.

They will fit the heads. What is unknown is how many other parts you'll have to relocate in order to get them to work. My engine is in a 98 4Runner and a significant amount of parts had to be moved and modified for my headers to fit, and those were made for my engine.

Well I ordered them any way. I can weld and modify them as needed. I will keep y’all posted with pics. Delivery date is Oct 4. Just got my heads resurfaced and going to start putting her back together.

If it's not too much trouble, I'd love to see a few photos of how the dual exhaust works out. What's your plan for the exhaust? Going to do an X pipe or a Y pipe? Or it is a true dual exhaust? I don't know your smoggy rules so not sure if that's an option.

I plan on doing true dual exhaust. That y or x pipe on the stock exhaust was a pain to remove. I ended up using a sawzall to cut it out lol. I’m in Maryland and plan on keeping the historic tags on it. Right now waiting on the headers to come in. Going to start cleaning the block and putting heads back in this week.

Got the headers today. They look like they will fit no problem. Exhaust studs line up perfectly

They look nice, I like the black.
The exhaust studs will be the least of your worries. My main concern will the the steering column and transmission.
