Carefully? LOL

Not sure.. mine didn't need any special cleaning really. Did wipe down stuff before I installed my S/C , but it really wasn't covered in any grime to speak off (just mostly dust).

I have used simple green for decades with NO adverse effects.
270 k miles and it still cleans up nice.

I might try the Simple Green Pro HD. Says it's safe for metals, including Aluminum.

I admit, I never knew about Simple Green affecting aluminum... but I guess I just never got around to cleaning bare aluminum with it.

Good to know about that though. I've used SG for pretty much everything else in my life, lol.

The aluminum damage happens if you soak it for a long time or leave it on metal without washing it off. I've cleaned many engines with it without any aluminum damage - but just make sure you do a good job rinsing.
