Shouldn't I have more Rake?
So, in June I installed some new OME 891 springs in the rear of my 2000 4Runner SR5. There is also a 10mm OME Trim Packer and the stock upper coil isolators with the center cones cut off on each side. They are mated with OME 60027 shocks. I got the 891s because of loaded camping with a 4-bike hitch mounted carrier.
The front is a Tundra TRD Spring/Bilstein 5100 combo. These have been on the truck for 13 years, so it's had time to settle. I keep the rubber bushings conditioned with ATP AT-205 Re-Seal. The shocks aren't leaking and everything still feels pretty great, especially with all the work I did recently. I replaced the LCA bushings with Whiteline, replaced the LBJs and installed the JBA UCAs. It's had an alignment done and everything is where it's supposed to be.
I have a hitch in the rear, a full size 285/75 spare on the stock 16" steel wheel and a single 10" sub in a 28lb. box. It sits behind the driver's side rear seat. I have a toolkit that weighs about 10lbs. sitting next to it on the passenger side.
Stock bumpers F/R.
It's ~22.5" from hub center to the bottom of the Bushwhacker flare in front. The rear sits about 1/2"-5/8" higher. I know every truck is different, blah-blah-blah. Am I expecting too much from the 891s? I expected them to deliver more rake.

OEM ride heights varied among the years, but generally speaking most lift amounts are based on about 20.5 inch hub to fender height. So based on the 20.5 inch average hub to fender ride height I would say you have a normal amount of lift in the rear from 891 springs.

Thanks. I will probably replace the suspension next Summer. Probably go with Dobinsons at this point.
EDIT: I miss my old Downey Off-road 3" springs... They had sagged and needed replacing. 891s seemed like the right choice at the time.

I have 890s and within 50k miles they were shot. I’m going with the toytec HD springs next

Bummer. My Downey's lasted well over 100k and I beat the hell out of them. The Toytec do look good though.

You could always do LC80 springs in the rear. Those will definitely achieve high lift numbers as well as provide your truck with a good bit of rake, especially when new. I've had them in the rear of my truck since 2014 and they still give my truck some rake, although they have settled a lot over the years with carrying lots of stuff in the back. They perform great and aren't excessive in my opinion, but of course, that is MY opinion. Ymmv.

what c-clip are you using with the 5100s? Also are they tundra 5100s or 4runner specific? Just trying to figure out how to set up my tundra 5100s/trd coils by asking about other peoples set ups...

If you really want some more rake, even though I think yours looks good, you can use a Whiteline W73410 spacer/trim packer. (i believe that's the Part #)
It's from an 80 series cruiser for the front but it fits on our rear coils. They're 20MM instead of the OME 10mm, I used one on my driver side to fix the lean. They take a little squeezing to fit on-top of the coil but they work really well.

Thanks, I appreciate the input. Which version do I want for loaded stuff? The 7.5 or 8 wrap coils? Do I want different coils for DS/PS?

Hi. I have the original Tundra-specific 5100/TRD Tundra coils set on the 2nd perch from the bottom. These have 5 positions.

Thanks for the tip! I appreciate it. That just might be the ticket. If I use the bottle jack to push the axle down, I can probably get those 20mm spacers in there without too much effort.
Before my Downey Off-Road 3" coils sagged after many miles of hard use, I had 1"+ of rake and I'm just used to seeing it that way. Those were the best springs I've had on this truck so far. I loaded up the truck for an outdoor wedding that I catered/officiated for my son, with the 891s and they held a full backend of stuff, with the seats folded down and full of stuff as well. I'll see how they do over the next year or so and figure out where I want to go at that point.

Did freshening up the front end and installing the JBA arms bring the front up a bunch? maybe that’s why it doesn’t seem like it has such a rake now?

The front end is pretty much where it has always been. Freshening up the front end did wonders for handling, comfort and steering precision, however. The Downey coils, before they sagged, were simply taller than the 891s.

I took out the upper metal strips that the OEM spare tire rests on. I don't fully inflate the spare since I carry a compressor. That helps quite a bit, actually. Also, I trimmed a lip off the interior of the hitch receiver. I never tow anything. I only use the hitch to carry my bikes. So, it wasn't going to cause a structural issue. I hoist up the spare with the carrier and wedge it between the upper crossmember and the inside of the hitch. Remember, don't fully inflate the tire and it will be squishy enough to compress it.
I have an old pic for illustrative purposes of the parts I removed:
See that little box protruding from the inside of the hitch? I cut that off.

The W73410 isn't available in the US. This part #W73420 is and it is the correct part number for the FZJ80. W73420 Whiteline Spring - pad bushing

You want Toyota p/n 48131-6A570. They should be color coded to designate which spring goes to the driver side and passenger side. Mine are the 7.5 wraps I believe. I'll try posting a photo here.
