Preferred Steel Wheel Backspacing to Clear Calipers?

Would like to possibly run a 15x8 steel (Crager, Pro Comp, Black Rock) D-window wheels but would like to know prior experience does 4.25" backspacing suffice or more toward 4.75"? What's a happy median? Will have Bilstein 5100's front and rear on stock springs with hopefully 285/75-15 - Rubbing issues there?

Let me know my happy place? Appreciate the help!

Steel wheel backspacing just moves the center disc in and out on the wheel hoop - it won't change caliper clearance. The design of the disc/face is what matters if you don't want to run spacers.

after some research it seems a 16" wheel is friendlier with caliper clearance than the 15" but still need to dial backspacing for clearance of frame/UCA's. Definitely hard finding threads in regards to backspacing/offset/steel wheels and 3rd Gen. caliper clearance.

I have the 15x8 Procomp steel d window rims with the -19 offset. You need to run the s12we calipers that came on 15” wheel base model 4Runners and 4cyl tacos. Even with the right calipers it’s a tight fit. I’d go 16” because there’s more tire options too unless you really want the 15” look
