moog springs 5100's terrible ride
Recently purchased a 2001, SR5, replaced stock springs and factory struts/shocks with Moog factory spec springs and Bilstein 5100's, the ride is terrible, tires lose contact with surfaces on rough terrain, highway is fine. Anything I can do to remedy this?

Add weight or get different shocks. I went from Bilsteins to KYBs and the ride difference is night and day

Any recommendations on OME springs front and back with 4runner specific 5100's? I have seen all the lift threads with tundra and tacoma fronts, not sure if the Tundra springs would work with the 4runner 5100's
Thanks

I would run Eibach springs with those Bilsteins. OME's work great with OME shocks, but my buddy has not had great success with OME Spings on Bilstein shocks. Lots of complaints of harsh ride. Can't tell you the reason, but I know my OME 880/906 combo with OME Nitrocharger shocks is way better than the previous setup I ran.
My old setup was Monroe 99 Tall Springs with KYB Struts, and 5th Gen Rear Springs with KYB MonoMax Shocks. The OME feels more planted, solid, and overall just rides better on the streeet and dirt roads.

What's your hub to fender height?

As a data point, I recently installed Factory '99 Tall springs and new Bilstein 4600 and feel they are too soft.
Was thinking about switching to 5100s but now wonder if it's too far the other direction.

Those Moogs are JUNK! Hated them on my rig, they didn't hold weight worth a damn. However, they rode decent. What length of 5100s did you buy? Did you buy the "stock" ones or the extended travel ones? Extended travel ones are made for trucks with 1.5"-3.5" of lift. The Moog coils I had with KYB shocks in the rear. Best advice I can give you is to go with a name-brand suspension company like Eibach, OME or Dobinsons and see what they offer. (personally like my OME 891s alot despite being a bit taller than what I bargained for)

they are just the stock 5100's, I knew I was going to regret the Moog springs, went cheap, trying to save some coin, I had read a few threads on them.

My '01 is getting an overall refresh now, though parts backordered do hamper progress, errr.
I went with '99 springs/shccks all around, looking forward to a tiny bit of lift, perhaps alot cuz she was on all original parts, just can't stand the backorder bit, been 2 months...some parts come in, others not....

I have this exact setup with a winch upfront so roughly 100lbs hanging off my front end and they are way too stiff even after 80k miles and some hard wheeling. Im going ironman 4x4 struts and springs next, expensive but my friends '99 rides like a dream. Day and night difference
