Hesitating and Lurching when Accelerating or Decelerating

Have a 98 4runner, manual transmission, and it has been hesitating when accelerating and lurching when I take my foot off the gas. Just replaced the plugs, wires, and coils and it was fine for about a day and then it came back. Thoughts on what to check next? No CEL. Normal idle. Seems to come on after it warms up and lightly at first then seems to get worse. Sometimes seems to go away though. Acceleration is fine once it does go but is a heavy thump, likely the drive shaft maybe when it does finally accelerate.

A few weeks back replaced:
- fuel pump
- fuel filter
- alternator
- power steering pump
- belts
- water pump
- timing belt
- thermostat
- oil/filter
- coolant

Past few days replaced/did:
- plugs
- wires
- coils
- 1 can of fuel system cleaner in the gas tank
- MAF sensor cleaned with MAF cleaner
- air filter
- felt/looked at vacuum lines and all look good at least

Appreciate any thoughts!

What your fluids as to rule out a coolant leak into the cylinder as a possibility..;)

Thanks both. Fluids look good. I replaced the TPS and tightened the throttle cable and sprayed wd40 on the springs on it. It seemed looser than it should be and saw in another thread that it could be the issue. Seems to have fixed it as it hasn't done it since I made those changes. Fingers crossed it doesn't come back!

Replacing the plug wires solved this issue on the Puppy Hauler.

I had perfect wires and my issue was a bad boot on a coil. Under load it brake down and cause a missfire.

I also had lurching and a surging idle when taking the foot off the gas. It was the TPS, no codes. It is a silent issue and can be baffling until you narrow it down. Sorry you had to try so much before you found it!

Could be clogging fuel injectors. Try a good fuel cleaner with PEA (polyetheramine) like from Gumout or their fuel injector cleaner. If it gets better, that's probably your problem. You can send them off to RCFuelinjection.com for testing and pro cleaning for I think it was about $20 each injector. They give you a before/after performance report.
