Wet rear passenger side floor.

The other day as I was getting my son out of his car seat (rear passenger side) was sopping wet. It has rained recently, but I couldn't tell where the water was coming from. The headliner isn't wet and I couldn't see any obvious signs of moister around the door rubber. I plan cleaning out the moonroof drains this weekend, but I would expect that the headliner would be wet if it were coming from there.

Any other ideas of where to look? I disconnected the rear heater lines several years ago when the rusted out, so it's not that. Its really only wet in the little space between the seat and door, right by the kick plate, not up the wheel well and not under the front seat.

Thanks,
Dustin

Sunroof drains and the bolts that hold the roof rack rails are common culprits for leaks like that.

Most likely the drain line for the sunroof. Could be the heater core, but you'll smell that. Some might say the seal around the windshield as well.

check all those what people said above ^. Also double check your door seals. Make sure it is sealing properly. Because you just never know!

Good way to check is to dry the truck. Then take a spray bottle with water and start spraying in those areas that was mentioned. Then see if water starts to appear inside

Thanks for the responses. I'll check out the roof rack bolts. Everything feels tight and I have never adjusted the roof rack. Its in the back seat and doesn't smell so I'm pretty sure its not leaky heater core or windshield. Heat works fine, coolant levels are fine and I'm not sure how water would get all the way to back seat without me seeing it in other areas.

I'm going to run some wire through sun roof, I just think it is odd that there is no evidence on the headliner or anywhere up off the floor. I might have to take off the interior molding to see if it is dripping behind it somehow.

When my roof rack bolt was leaking I didn't have any moisture on my headliner. Best thing you can do is start checking things and figure out what's going on.

What was the solution

I have the same thing.
Have had a lot of rain & Rear seat wet
Zero evidence on headliner.

You seem to know what you are talking about. I have a 3rd gen limited. Sunroof has been sealed so no leak from there. I just got the truck but it has had water damaged from leaks from the sunroof and windshield. I was under the impression that no leaks were in the truck. But when it rains hard, the back seat floor gets damp
Any suggestions? I tried attaching a picture but it doesnt let me.

That user responded to this thread in 2017. So probably may not respond to you.

If the sunroof is sealed and not leaking through the sunroof. The next place would be the roof rack brackets or the roof itself.

If that's the case. Your sun roof drains are probably plugged. As water designed to run around the sun roof inside and down the drains.

The videos in this thread shows you how to fix that If you wish to fix it.

Glad you found your leak.

Remove enough trim to lower the headliner in the back and have someone apply water to the roof rails while you look for leaks
