Well I definitely don't think it would hurt to give them a clean off. Although I do need to do some hard stops because I'm still trying to get air out of the ABS system. Or get air out of the whole system in general. It's pretty bad right now to be honest, ridiculous pedal travel and squish.

That's actually what I'll be working on this weekend.

I know the FSM doesn't state it but try bleeding it with the engine running. I also had a heck of a time getting the air out as it gets trapped in the ABS module as it is the high point in the lines. Getting it out takes a lot of patience and a lot of fluid. With the engine on and the brake booster/brake pump running it gives extra force to push the air down and out the line. As you might expect, you have to do this fairly quickly or the air will find its way back to the high point in the line.

Good info to know, I'm going to have to do a bleed sooner or later on my rig. Things aren't too bad but I'm pretty sure the pedal isn't as firm as it could be (don't really have a point of reference given I just bought it though). The way you are talking though it's a good idea to bleed fairly frequently on these, is it worth it to buy a bleed kit? I need to bleed the clutch too so it sounds like I might want to do this and make bleed jobs that much easier.

Slap some of these puppies on and you don't need a second person, don't need to do it slowly, you just need to keep an eye on that reservoir level: Speed Bleeder Main Page

Hook a hose on to a bleed jar (unless you're a savage), and just pump away.

Something that's worked since before speed bleeders were invented single person bleed.

Have a long enough hose for catch bottle to hang above the bleed port,
loop in hose long enough to reach bottom of Qt simply orange OJ bottle
have inch or so of fluid in bottle with hose end submerged
Open bleed valve any air that comes out will rise to highest point in tube going to bottle and stay there.
Top of loop I shoot for 12" or so above bleed port. keep eye on Rez fluid and pump away.

For 01-02 follow FSM they a beatch, key and engine off bleeding 96Red worked for me.

If you feel the need to function ABS channels to move air/fluid wet streets
better than dry pavement to fire all channels I've found.

Yeah speed bleeders are great.

I have an 02 and I did tundra brake upgrade and it was a nightmare to get the air out. I did it a million times haha. even used tech stream to cycle the abs. It did get better. Do it off, do it while its running and do it over and over again if it feels soft.

Not sure if you have a 01-02, just in case thought Id give the warning.

I agree with just burning off shoes, its not alot of work to clean but still extra work thats not needed, spend that time on bleeding.

I have a 01 I replaced MC on, it is rinse and repeat if a soft pedal or one pump helps brakes.
