Sticky rear wiper

Keep forgetting to get this addressed but with winter bearing down upon us in CO I need to get this fixed. The hinge on the arm is sticking and it's not making contact with the glass. I lubed up the hinge with some 3in1 and it's still pretty locked up. I can move the hinge by hand but it's definitely binding. I kind of wonder if previous owner who did a rattle can job painted the arm causing this and of course it's rivetted so you can't take it apart. I was wondering anyone has any ideas besides lubing it before I try and find a replacement.

I would Just buy a good used one or a new arm. As I couldn't get my one arm to function properly. I tried everything except drilling the rivet out and clean the arm. :/

That's how I fixed mine.

I'm just to your west in Utah, same here, Saturday I'm planning on going to grab one as I have the same issue, which isn't great considering I'd like to see out my back window so I don't cut someone off. I was thinking maybe it's possible to swap in one from a newer model car just for the looks but I'll see when I get there.

That makes me wonder if it's possible to swap the gen 3 arm out for one with a j hook connection for the wiper blade instead of the screws.

It is, but it's a bit jank, I saw a post somewhere while researching a few days ago of someone who had gotten a traditional hook and somehow made it work, but I can't find the link.

I did just find this bosch wiper "adapter" that could work: Bosch 3392390298 Wiper Blade Mounting Kit
Here's someone on the forum who installed one: Rear Wiper Adapter

I'm going to go ahead and order one and try it out, we'll see how it goes.

Interesting might have to try that once I get the arm replaced!

I'll let you know how it ends up working out, in my eyes it's a nice change as I don't have to go buy some weird blade and can just use the Js
unfortunately amazon says it won't be here for a week or two so it could be a minute

That was my thread. I haven't changed the wiper again since replacing it, but I haven't had any problems with it either. I think it's worth the money to give you options beyond the OEM wiper.

showed up today, fit well, had to modify the bracket on the wiper because the arm got in the way, but so far seems to work well.

I seen those adapters that should work.

Lol well as a last ditch before finally ordering the new arm I decided to take the old one off and ended up dousing the piss out of the hinge with 3in1 and working it back and forth (much easier to do with it off the truck). I actually finally got it a little smoother and put it back on to test. It now contacts the glass almost completely (just a little lifting on the bottom of the blade at the top of the stroke which I think is more down to the blade design than the arm but it's almost negligible). So just to put it out there, if you are going to try to lube the hinge, make sure to take the arm off and really really lube the hinge.

I would take it off and leave it in evaporust for a week. Taking it out daily and move it back forth 10 times. If that doesn't fully fix it nothing with besides drilling out the revot and separating all the parts.

On my 04 grand Cherokee road grime would stick it so I’d hit it with penetrating oil and excersize it almost weekly until it snapped against the window.
