2002 4Runner won't go forward/backward

Need Help

2002 4Runner with 354,000 miles

Had flat tow truck to get home last night due to bad alternator.

Tested battery - good go go. Changed alternator today- started right up after.

But when it put it in gear (forward or reverse) it doesn't move. And I can't put back to park as I hear grinding. So have to shut it off to get back into park. Never had this issue before.

When it rolled off the flat truck last night. It started up with the jump from the tow truck and I backed it into the garage till it died and we had to push it a few feet. Than it sat till this morning and the alternator change - thoughts?

I know the problem... It ain't got no gas in it
Ages ago a forum member talked about how he would throw his t-case into neutral and take the knob with him as a form of theft protection. It works so well it often keeps the owner from driving it!

Yes…. 354,000…

Bought it in 2007 with 50,000 miles on it…. Still my primary and most dependable vehicle…

4 kiddos and tons of soccer and track miles on it for many years…

Luv that truck…. Need it to last a few more years…. Last judging is almost out of high school… junior
