Camera systems
Looking for a system that records multi views (probably 4), front rear sides, with audio night vision. Something with high quality video, large storage capacity. The biggest thing is able to handle washboards, off-road, etc in the pasted my camera last a few months and die and I suspect the vibrations are the many cause. The rear camera will be a dedicated view on a screen and run multi screens to view the others (thinking two rear and one with right blind spot most of the time and with the ability to select screens. Been researching said but curious to c what others have found... nice to have recorded video in case of a MVR, etc.

Your not the only one. I haven't found a system I like yet.

Multi views (3+), audio, night vision, high quality video, large storage capacity.
Nothing exists that can do all of that. And if it did it would cost more then our 4R's.
I love my blackvue dash cam. Definitely top tier system and not a lot better available, but wont do anything you are wishing for.
All dash cams have mediocre video at best, no true night vision and most do poor night video. But you can get large storage now.

This looks like a discreet and modest system....

Is this for 'dash-cam' type needs (accident evidence)? Safety on the street needs (view of people in blind spots, etc.)? View offroad (less need for a spotter)?
I've been wanting a 360* camera system to use as a 'spotter' offroad - there are a few aftermarket options, but they would only be useful for parking and low-speed driving - and no help for dash-cam safety.

Both... so far it looks like I'd need to get 2 DVR systems that run independently of the other (still researching). With my build I want one screen that is a full time rear camera because:
Currently working on this to mount 3 screens {maybe 4 but current plan is 3 (rear, L-side, R-side), with the ability to switch to spotter views on the side cameras}:

I will probably use a raspberry pi pc with SD hard drive to store the motion only video then when i pull into the office or house have it upload itself network storage.
For me I want all 4 views being recorded when movement is around the vehicle
that way is someone is messing around . I have video evidence. Then if someone slams a cart or a door into my vehicle etc. I have evidence.
So only the raspberry PI will be the DVR so to say. I really haven't dig into too much. I know they have like 10 different DVR options for the software to do the recording. Then I need to find compatible cameras to the PI.. I would mount mine all internally or fish eye lense the outside.
I was hoping some of these android head units would support DVR functions but mostly they are only 2 channels for when your backing up a camera and sometimes a front camera and that is it. No recording motion I have yet to see anything on the market that is for 4 channel DVR for any vehicle.
Even the buses are only one channel for the kids seats and that is it. So the school bus industry doesn't even have a 4 channel camera system.
I am still in the building the frames and bodies etc stage. So Its one of the reasons I haven't looked into it further yet.

The safe fleet unit I linked above has 6 channels and they have a 4 channel, from that I read the school can also remotely view the live video if they want...
so far the safe fleet systems r on the top of my radar but this type of system is out side of my scope. The other issue is everything I can find is Chinese made, would free more comfortable is I could find something made in Japan.

Now your build is making a lot more sense. Is it even going to be street legal to have windows blocked off but use cameras to show you those views?

Department of Homeland security has banned Hangzhou Hikvision Digital Technology Co., Ltd., often shortened to Hikvision, is a Chinese state-owned manufacturer and supplier of video surveillance equipment for civilian and military purposes, headquartered in Hangzhou, Zhejiang.
Its parent company makes about 90% of all the DVR and camera systems in existence.
This is why I am probably going to end up building my own. As in stand alone mode its not a critical. However, you hook these to the internet.. Its possible the Chinese military is seeing all your video feeds as a pile of them use those p2p connections with Chinese own domains hosting those servers.
Thus why the Homeland security banned them. They are banned in all local and federal government buildings along with military bases. The FCC even revised it further and stop short of telling people to remove them if they have them installed.
So its a major bummer as nobody else mfg this type of equipment. Its probably the reason a lot of these cameras and systems are sold so cheaply.. Free surveillance for the Chinese state sponsored government.
This is hikivision only. The real kicker is there isn't a list of approved equipment. which makes the issue worse.
So you might have to use on of those 6 channel cameras systems. :/ For what I want those wont work.

yes, no diff then driving a van, truck, etc that have slide in campers, used for moving, work tools, etc, etc... U have to have 2 way to viewing the rear, ie side mirriors x2, one side and rear view mirror. (there r state specific rules that vary as well)
cameras r just something I want, my current 4runner the rear and side windows are all blocked by shit on the inside for many yrs. the cameras add extra viewing and protection in case MVR or road rage incident.
