Where to store back seat headrests on 96-98 4runner?

I've had so much help from this forum with my 98 4runner that I had to share a neat little trick to get those pesky back seat headrests stored when the back seats are folded away. You purchase a set of Flymic car seat headrest hooks from Amazon (Amazon.com: Flymic Car Seat Headrest Hook, 4 Pack Car Storage Headrest Hanger Holder Hooks Organizer, Universal Vehicle Strong and Durable Backseat Hanger Interior Accessories for Handbag Purse and Bag Black : Everything Else) for about 8 bucks. The hook needs to be wide enough to accommodate the diameter of the headrest support. You then drill a 7/16 inch hole centered in each hook. Be sure to start with a smaller drill and move up to the 7/16 inch one to make a nice round hole. Then install the hooks and slide the headrest supports in each hook. That's it. I've provided pictures below to show how it looks. The hooks give good support to the headrest and when not in use make a great way to hang stuff from the back of your seats as they were intended.

Not sure how, but you managed to pay this thread three times. Might want to delete the other two. Cool mod though.

Cool item and cool modification. Thanks for posting this.

I think I will order a set. I have been thinking about trying to buy or make that other one piece type that was posted in another thread, but I think I will try this one instead. Especially since you can't beat the price. Plus, you get 4 hangers for other stuff when they aren't holding headrests.

Regarding the duplicate threads, maybe you can report the extra ones to a moderator and ask that they be deleted. Not sure if a user can delete a thread. In some forums, a user can, before any replies are made.

Mine are supposed to arrive tomorrow. I wanted to add a hint to use a drill bit like this when drilling the additional holes to accept the rear headrests. One of these step drills won't grab the metal like a twist drill bit will, lessening the chances of marring your workpiece or cutting the snot out of your hand. You can buy them at most any home center, hardware store and probably even some Walmarts. Or online - just do a search for "step drill" or "sheetmetal drill". They come in different diameters, cutting edge lengths (depth of hole) and materials.

Us shadetrees and workshop dudes know how damn handy they can be. If it won't go deep enough, then at least it gives you a nice clean pilot hole for your twist drill. They are particularly effective in aluminum.

Those headrest hooks are hard plastic so be careful with the drill bits you use. I found that the larger twist drill bits do tend to catch in the plastic so maybe the step drill bit will cut a cleaner hole.

I don't know why I made the dumb assumption that they were made from aluminum. Being plastic explains why they are so inexpensive. Even being plastic, I imagine they will hold up fine for my usage, which will be light.
