Brake pad anti-rattle/retaining clip broke - need some quick advice

I’m out in Wyoming on a road trip about to drive back to NY in 2 days. Today I noticed a scraping sound from my front brake and found that the flimsy rusty POS dust shield had given out and was caught up in the wheel.

I was able to rip it out but then noticed that the clip for the brake pads had broken and was jamming into the wheel as well.

These are Tundra 199mm calipers and I actually just installed them about 2 months ago.

All other components are in tact.

How essential is that clip to brake performance? If it’s essential then I will try to source another.

I also want to know if I’d be okay to drive 10 miles to an auto parts store without the clip.

Thanks

You be fine until you get home.
As long as the pins are in place and they can't come out via there holding clip.

As I bought ones with those missing...:/

Just the answer I was hoping to hear!

Pins and the little wires that keep them in place are together

You are understating their purpose. the hold the brake pads pins from chattering on the the brake pads.

Now the pins that hold the brake pads in themselves, those are very critical as those brake pads have to be kept in place. Along with their little clip pin that keep those bigger pins in... Are very important as well..
