It’s not easy to find. My friends trans shop is also a Pennzoil Quick Lube and they stock it.

When I put a tighter torque converter in my Cummins in 1996 the trans shop used multi vehicle. It had 180,000 miles on it and still chirped the tires WOT on 1-2 upshift.

Also used it in some GM transmissions.

Valid point but it was designed to have that fluid in it. Its a slightly thicker and probably even shifts smoother as well. :-)

All things considered, my trans has been good to me and the fluid has never become discolored and I've never experienced any issues with it (knock on wood)

So I must be doing something right with regular drain and fills. The shifting feels smooth, but I've also only driven this thing for the past 10 years so I don't really have much to compare it to, either. I'll keep doing what I'm doing as long as I get good results.

We have a drain plug which makes it so much easier.

That's the truth. I don't think the 4th gens do. No idea about 5th gens. I've been trying to do annual drain and fills anyhow.

$82.36 for 4 quarts of AMSOIL multivehicle ATF... I think I'm going to have to pass on that. And that's pre-shipping, too. Walmart, here I come.

It was $110 w/tax for 13 quarts at local dealer, not too bad. In one year (5K) I'll do a full drain (x4) using valvoline blue and go annual from there.

Luck to us all !!

Most transmissions pans have drain plugs. The ones without dipsticks mostly have a fill plug like the diffs do..

At 60K I did a fluid swap and put Mobil 1 Synthetic ATF in the trans. I'm at almost 155K now and planning to do a fluid swap again.

I was going to use the Valvoline Maxlife but the Mobil 1 is on clearance at Autozone. Depends on region I think but it's anywhere from $2 - $6 a quart at present. I bought 13 quarts, all my local Autozone had in stock and will be using that in the trans again.

I got ATF+4 from them on close out for 99 cents a quart. I still got 3 gallons left….sold my truck that used it.

My thoughts precisely.

Using Dex/Merc conventional fluid here. No issues, and not interested in creating issues by changing fluids to what's trending.

Are you using a machine for a full fluid exchange or just doing multiple drain and fills?
