Walmart was a good tip I bought this set there. So many choices and parameters- I just went with the Yokohama Geolandar AT G015 P265/75R16 114 T I had before which were great. They are getting installed on Wed and I bought 5 and a replacement rim for one I bent. Lotsa money but man I'm going to be happy and ready for the trails! Thanks everyone the experience I find here on this site is always invaluable.

Count me in on the Falken Wildpeaks! I had a set on my 2000 4Runner which were SL rated. Never did anything extreme, but never had a single complaint. I was coming from a set of Michelins and I'm a Michelin guy for the most part.

However, on my 2021 4Runner, I put a set of Wildpeak E load rated in 265/70/17 as soon as I could. They are a skosh louder, but not overly loud. After 8 days of driving in Death Valley a few weeks ago, my stock 4Runner conquered the Escape Trail (Fish Canyon) and Goler Wash/Mengel Pass! This is also with a novice driver too. I went with an experienced buddy and he guided me thru all of the really tough spots. We aired down to 20 psi (maybe could've tried 18 or even 15) and all of the tires performed flawlessly. We saw some very sharp rocks courtesy of the recent flooding and ventured into the snow and ice up at the top of Cerro Gordo. Over 1,271 miles, I averaged 35 MPH and 17.1 MPG. Not bad for being loaded down and crawling over rocks etc.

I know they've increased in price since first introduced, but I don't see a reason to change as they've done everything I need it to and probably then some!

Forgot to mention to try Tirebuyer.com. They have $120 off a set of 4 and you can get money back from Rakuten (5% as of now).
Buy Tires Online | TireBuyer.com

I've bought several sets of tires from them and they've got things down pretty good. Never had any issues with them.

here to recommend Falken Wildpeaks as well. Outstanding wear pattern, balance great, I have about 38k miles in 5 years and they still have great tread.

I'm certainly not one of them. I'm not saying they're a bad tire, because they're definitely one of the major tire brands. I just personally didn't have a good experience with them (BFG AT's) in the past. I'm partial to Cooper now.

What's the consensus on General Grabbers? I've always been interested in those and personally think they look great.

I had them in E rating on a Silverado 1500. Sidewall might as well have been a p rated tire. Ran them at 30 psi on the road and 20 psi on the fire roads.

I HIGHLY recommend the Falken Wildpeak AT3W's. I have ~40k on my first set and I should get at least 90k out of them based on the current tread wear.

I love em so much, I actually convinced my dad to buy them for his 5th gen and I just bought a set for my 2nd 3rd gen.

My dad has had BFG Pre-KOs, KOs, and KO2s for the last ~25 years and he was shocked how much better the Falkens are in the dry and in the rain. I absolutely hated my KO2s- like driving on ice any time the road was wet. The KOs and KO2s always had problems with balancing too. Never had a problem with the Falkens. The guys at Discount Tire agree with that as well.

Off road performance is about the same as the KOs and KO2s.

We have 255/80r17 on all 3 4Runners and they're my favorite tire size by far.

Fair enough, I'm on my 2nd set of KO'2 on my 04 suburban, zero issues. Great on the ice we had here in central texas last year and this year and no issues in rain at all. They are "e" rated.

I have Falken AtW 3 on my 01 Excursion and the tread wear is phenomenal in snow and ice they work well too. They're just noisier than the BFG's and mud tire they are not.

I'm running Toyo on my 4runner and they are noisy but work well on ice and snow, but I wouldn't buy them again.

Everyone has a favorite tire and in my 56 years on this earth, these are mine.

I appreciate your opinion, by the way, we travel to hot springs or through to our house in poplar bluff on a regular basis. We also have a family vacation house on lake Louise.
Love that part of the country.

Have a blessed day my friend.

Another happy owner of Falken Wildpeaks here. I haven't had them long enough to judge treadwear lifetime, but they seem to be wearing well.

I love them much more than the Michelin LT (I forget the exact model) that they replaced. Noticeably better in the dirt and light snow. At least equal on rainy streets, and seem very resistant to hydroplaning, like the Michelins were (at least with good tread depth).

What's not to love about equal or better performance at a far cheaper price?

I'm on my 2nd set of Grabber AT2's in a 285/75/16. The new version is the AT/X. Best snow tire I've used. They are a much better version of the BFG AT. Better in the rain and off-road. They are rated for 60,000 miles. I run them @35 psi on road and they wear really even. They aren't very loud.

I buy mine from Discount Tire.

EDIT: I see that they reduced the mileage rating to 50K for the AT/X. They no longer offer a "D" rated tire that I can see, no C nor SL either.
