Interior Leak

Hello all,

We got lots of rain today, and a new leak popped open. I park on a slope, with the front of the vehicle downhill. The first time I hit the brakes after putting it in drive, about a cup of water leaked from somewhere onto the passenger side dash and door.

I inspected the areas above the leak, and all seemed dry, minus the passenger side headboard which was damp. In the photo, you can see water droplets above the fan vent. The "oh shit" handle was wet, and I thought the water could have come from there, but the bolts are really in there, and started stripping the head trying to get them out.

Any ideas? I recently sealed my windshield with some permatex, so I don't think it's that, although it's always a possibility. The location of the leak has me stumped.

Do you have a moonroof? If so, the drain lines might be clogged. I think @mtbtim did a video on how to clean them.

Sure do. I looked up there today and saw some water sitting, very well could be that. I plan on cleaning those out this weekend.

Just an odd place for water to land. I saw water free-falling inside like someone dumped a cup of water. Wondering where it could have fallen from.

I seen water fly out of the moon roofs before. Just like someone pouring water out...:/

Well, then I'm going to guess that it's the sunroof for now.

Thanks for input guys.

If the drain is clogged, there is space up there that can fill with water and then when you hit the brakes it spills over the lip and comes into the car.

my sunroof leaked exactly like this. my sunroof motor was burned out anyway and I don't want to spend the money to fix it so I just sealed it off with clear caulking from the outside. Hasn't leaked a drop since.
