Crank no start twice intermittent issue...

we got home, and parked the 4runner. I got back in it 10 min later. Key to start, the engine tries to start after 1-sec key twist but stumbles and dies, Tried again. Same result. The third time I throttle it half to the floor and crank for 3 secs and it started.

Backed it out of the carport and shut it off. Get out. Go get a beer and come back. Put the key in and starts the first bump.

What the heck is going on?

The fuel tank had about 5 gallons and it wasn't sitting at a weird angle, flat ground.
My 4 runner has a new fuel pump, 2 months old.
New filter, plugs,wires, etc.

Any ideas?

Maybe, but it was removed and cleaned 2 months ago when we were chasing the po420 code and found the TB Gasket installed upside down.

Hold old the fuel pump. If it does it again. Take the rear seat cover off and tap the sending unit. Maybe your fuel pump developing a bad spot in armature.
