Where to get a power steering hose that is as overbuilt as the original

I replaced the power steering return line today. Despite me getting a replacement that is suitable, the original hose was twice as thick as the new one, I had to use smaller clips. It feels like a downgrade even if the original hose is 25 years old. I don't think I'll find such an overbuilt part in any Autozone.

The original hose is made by Yokohama, can I still get them through Toyota? It's not a part that is unique enough for Toyota to give a part number

Looking like aftermarket only. Unless, you find a good OEM used one somewhere. :-(

Look around your area for place that makes Hydraulic Hose's.
You'll need OD measurement of nipple on Rez and steel tube at rack, OD of orginal hose.
Best selection to choose from.

Any transmission cooler line will do the job.

It’s nothing special and it is not under any pressure.

Yes I always forgot about the hydraulic hose makers. That's definitely an option.

The pressure line does have a metal non crushing sleeve in it that a found out exists at a pick and pull when pulling a power steering pump out of a wrecked one.

For me it was finding the correct fit rubber ID to hardline OD.

Current price for OE pressure line is $370.00 + shipping tax off the shelf, a shop can beat that.
It's a handy option to know of a place if you get in a bind or refurbing.

Edit: Find the local place that makes heavy equipment hoses hit up local equipment operators.
A good/pro industial shop will spec new hose/fittings to OE specs.

I went to the dealership today, the guy at the counter said the same thing. If you want the hose you have to buy the whole replacement return line including the metal hoses, which is over $300.

Obviously that isn’t going to happen. The stuff that you can buy by the foot from Toyota isn’t going to be any different from what you can get from a parts store.

Yokahama doesn’t sell their hoses to normal consumers, seems like they only sell in bulk. So if you want something as robust as the original part, your only option is to go with hydraulic hoses.

No, All I've replaced are the two pieces of hose on L/P side. Took going to Industrial place for the ID"-OD" OE dimensions and type of hose. OE clamps worked no problem.

Same Industrial place said they could build a H/P line for half dealer cost. Pre-covid price sure it's higher now.

In a nut shell. Doesn't have to be hydraulic hose just the appropriately constructed higher end rubber hose correct dimensions.
Better grade of hose than I've found in chain parts houses.
Find a one stop shop for an ace up your sleave if/when you need a HP hose.

You wanted another (larger OD) hose to be able to use the spring clamps?

Just for posterity, the banjo fitting on the pump side of the high pressure hose has a sensor in it. Not sure if a hydraulic hose shop would be able to maybe a hose that had that specific sensor built into the banjo fitting.
