Just go down to the local midas, etc and have them weld in a Universal converter that meets the specs. Magnaflow is probably your best option out of those for a replacement weld in option.

i actually do run the magnaflow "performance cat" but its the Tacoma style bolt on cat not the one piece 4runner oem. i swapped out all the exhaust to the tacoma 2.7 style including the manifold. Long story shot, ive had to replace the cat once in about 10 years when the honeycomb in side the cat became dislodged and blocked the exhaust flow.

I have had good experiences with Walker catalytic converters. All bolt on type. RockAuto might carry them. If a weld in type converter is needed I would go with what the muffler shop recommends based on what they sell and what warranty they offer. I love Magnaflow products but I don't know if I would run a highflow catalytic converter and expect the same quality in terms of longevity. If they offer an OEM type bolt on converter then I'd go for it.

Are you positive the cat is bad (hopefully not stolen)?

Similar to what JT1USA mentioned, my Walker converter has been good to me so far. I spec'd out the correct converter on Walker's website then sourced the PN from rock auto and welded mine in. I wouldn't expect it to last as long as the OEM one, but the price was right and worth the extra effort.

What model year do you have? My (2) cats don't look like that unit.

If you have 2 cats then you have the California model. Everywhere else got 1 cat like pictured above.
