Figured I would start a separate thread for this to make it easy for others to search this in the future.
Got my camera setup all buttoned up. Went with the Atoto F7-XE single din radio
Amazon.com. Wanted the single din because I determined single din was the best option for the radio/vent swap I want to do soon. Definitely looking forward to having that mod done as I definitely don't like how low it is and it makes it hard to get to my climate controls (but not impossible). Also went with the Pixelman backup cameras for front and rear based off the supposed shockproof rating on these
Amazon.com. They even have a picture of the whole housing being potted so I'm really hoping these can take a little bit of abuse (I don't really tend to rally offroad though so hopefully that helps). Also went with them because they use a very slim 4 pin connector that I correctly assumed would make routing through the hatch connection much easier. Ended up having to buy this extension though as the slim connector only reaches halfway up my hatch
Amazon.com. To control everything I got the Atoto remote and mounted it on the bottom of my steering wheel (tilted it in a bit so that I don't accidentally hit the volume ring)
Amazon.com.
Got it all routed nicely through trim panels and the hot lead for the camera is integrated into the RCA cable so that was nice. Since I wanted to use the live rear view function I routed a wire from the head unit reverse input all the way back to the red and blue reverse light positive. Live rear view function works flawlessly and the camera comes on when I put the truck in reverse. Also routed another wire for a dimmer function to the rear taillight (solid green wire) that comes on when I turn on my headlamps. This also works flawlessly. No clue if these wires are the same color on all 3rd gens but that's what it is on my 98. I figure the live rear view should help with monitoring my departure angle (I have my rear hitch just barely showing) and also this is a wide enough angle camera that it can spot vehicles in my blind spots. Also should help if I have the back loaded up and can't use my rear view mirror.
Routed the front camera up through the firewall grommet in the driver footwell. Tried mounting it on my front license plate at first but found that this was too close to the ground and it felt like warp speed when using it in 4lo 1st gear so today I rerouted it up to the top of my grill. It's much better up there. Ended up nailing the angle first try to where the top horizontal blue lines almost perfectly match the track of my tires.
On both cameras I cut the lines that put it in AHD mode which the Atoto picks up just fine. Really good resolution and not too bad on the color either. On the rear I also cut the guidelines and used the adjustable guidelines built into the Atoto. For the front I cut the mirror image line for obvious reasons. Wish the Atoto could do adjustable guidelines on the front camera as well but not the end of the world, I think I can get used to using the ones that come on the camera just fine.
All in all super happy with the head unit (besides the fact that it's so low). Every function I wanted works great and the 10.1" screen is super nice and crisp. Even put an old school Toyota logo as the wallpaper. After enough testing I did finally remove the wrapping that came on the screen and installed the screen protector.
