Possible auto trans torque converter solenoid issue?

Hey guys,

My daughter has a 2000 with an auto trans that we had to swap for a lower milage trans due to a torque converter issue that was pricier than the low milage trans. It shifts harder than she remembers now, and stalled the other day in an intersection. I have been pondering what it could be as the engine is running great and purrs like a kitten, runs like a lion. I've had two general mechanic friends I know say they know the solenoids that are in sync with the torque converters in these trans are know to "shut engines down" when not working properly.

True?
Any ideas?

My daughter stated that it hasn't happened again this week. Not sure if that assists you guys in troubleshooting or it simply makes this a "dancing frog," haha.

there's a lot of info on these if u search that could help u out, with that said, it sounds like ur TQ is going out or less likely the TQ lockup solenoid (they r a simply on/off solenoid and if it was ur issue doubt it would be running fine now but could be something in the VB blocking the passage that getting shifted). the ECU controls TQ lockup and if something is causing the TQ to stay locked when u r coming to a stop the vehicle will stall out and shut off... hope that helps get u started on ur reading. Without being there and having hands on the vehicle this is all speculation...

Might want to check the Transmission shifting adjustment cable on the TB assembly I think. Maybe adjust it so that shifts less aggressively?
