I used to be in Rancho many moons ago. I can't tell you how it is now. But, if 4R parts are how it is now, I'm sure your choice in 3rd gen parts are severely limited there too.
But when I was there, the many yards on the Recycle Road area was thee place to be at. I cannot tell you which was better as I bought parts from different yards pending on which yard had what I was looking for.
I chuckle on the conversation you and Randy had about how fiercely protective you are with the parts you have.
Haha, I get it!

Hopefully I won’t need to be cutting parts trucks up …yet. Amayama accepted my order for that panel after a manual order review so that seems like a good sign. We’ll see.

Yes. The irony is Randy comes scavenging my parts. He does help me some, though.
The 3rd gens around my area are extremely scarce. A few in a pick and pulls. If they hit our main yard they get striped quickly.
It's one of the reasons I have so many of them. I figured, if everything gets crushed. I can keep 1 or 2 going.

Sadly I agree. It's one of the reasons I got my 3rd gen. Wanted an older vehicle I could work on and one that I could bug out into somewhere more remote. Hopefully I can at least get the hell out of Denver before that happens. Also contemplated doing a diesel swap at some point (probably a VW TDI since they are way more efficient than the 1TZ) so I can run biodiesel. Def want to learn to weld soon too. Another big reason was the section of a bill from last year that mandated driving monitoring systems in all new vehicles after 2025 that would monitor for impaired driving.

Why not just convert to run gasoline and compressed natural gas? Well maybe your area doesn't have that infrastructure for it.
People just need to say enough is enough and don't buy the new vehicles that can limit your liberties.
The big push to electric is to completely control people. They won't let you charge or control your charging and tax folks by the mile too. They are not going to give up those gas and disel road taxes. They are coming just be 5 or so years off so your screwed. They are going to tax to charge those things then tax again for the road fuels taxes.
Well that's what I think is coming down the road anyways.
Was that impairment law just in Co or nationwide?

Law was nationwide. It was snuck in as a rider in one of the covid bills. For the diesel thing I'm thinking of worst case scenario collapse where gas is not being refined anymore and goes bad at some point (if it's not all raided before then). At least you can make biodiesel fairly easily in that scenario. Plus it sounds like all that low end torque would be great for wheeling in the meantime lol. Sorry, probably shouldn't derail this anymore since it's not exactly related to the OPs topic other than the person I was replying to saying it might be good for him to learn these diverse skills for that scenario. Maybe we should start a 3rd gen prepping thread lol

Nice! Well hope Amayama can find that part for you. The whole north America is NLA concerning that part.

Ya those guys scouting the yards are quick! A 4r gets listed in the pick and pull at 9am. I get there at 10am and already the rear diff is gone. The brake booster is gone. Throttle body is gone. The front outside L/R door handles are gone.

When gasoline is harder to get, anything gasoline powered going down the road will be a target for the "have nots" and unprepared.
Lol, I think we just stepped over into that area that we weren't soposed to be in.

I found the rust hole because I left my cooler drain open and it soaked my storage box and carpet.
Today:
