What other vehicles have a suitable door check for a 3rd gen

The Toyota door check have been discontinued for ages and I'm sick of my door falling shut on me. The little production company out of Russia that had been making repair kits for these is no longer an option for obvious reasons (thanks Putin).

We need a solution once and for all because there is nothing. I'd sooner whittle myself a new one from a block of ABS plastic than I'd pay a part scalper for a NOS one.

Any cars with similar door lengths or have similar looking parts I should try?

I've already looked at the Tundra, Sequoia, 4th gen 4runner, FJC, and Pathfinder from the era and they either aren't available or don't look the same.

LOL if I had a nickel. Welcome to owning an aging car, that's just how it goes man. Hopefully you'll find something but honestly I highly doubt there's a "once and for all" solution if it wasn't used between other vehicles of the era
I suspect you would have better luck buying a 3D printer and making your own program, or working with someone who does. Or go to a pick and pull
Could always be worse, we could be driving classic Mopar...

Not that I am aware of. I thought someone in this forum has a rebuild option for these parts. Granted, I maybe incorrect on that.

Is it the little plastic piece that has worn down? If so I can print new ones (I run a small 3D printing Shop) out of ABS fairly easily. I'll just have to take mine apart and grab one to reverse engineer.

There's a write up on a similar Toyota part that works lurking somewhere on these forums. I can't seem to find it though.

If you do that I'd certainly be interested. Like I said, there was a shop on Ebay that was doing this and I was interested but the war started before I got around.

I bought one of those repair kits and it made my door so hard to open that it wound up ripping off the outer rubber coating on the door check.

I've rebuilt a number of these with that kit from Russia and have not had that happen.

There was a post somewhere saying that the 97-2011 Camry's door checks used the same type of rubber bumper as the 3rd gens but don't remember if the actual door checks were the same.

I have a set of new door checks (Factory Toyota in original bags) with me. If you're interested, shoot me a PM.

The original Toyota parts were still available around September of 2021. I priced them out then before I rebuilt mine.

@JZiggy I thought you were able to buy the rebuild kits somewhere else, like through Amazon or something?

The rubber bumpers are used on lots of Toyotas from that time frame, but the checks themselves are different part numbers and the actual style of the check is different in some places too so the whole part won't be interchangeable likely.

Usta'could. They have been out of stock for a while now.

3rd gen T4R

They actually have the same door check as the Toyota Tacoma 1995 through 2000(maybe until 2004). Amazon sells them for around 30 bucks. You can actually get two of them for 30 bucks but you’d have to wait for two months and they are also sold on Amazon. They fit both driver side and passenger side doors.

TRQ Front Door Check Driver or Passenger Side LH RH for Toyota Tacoma New https://a.co/d/7L0YBoK

I have two 3rd gen 4Runners And replaced all the front door checks. They were great and are not expensive.
