Whirring Noise in the Radio Area??

I keep hearing this whirring noise like a CD is trying to be ejected but there is no CD. I thought it might be one of those air/heat doors in the ventilation system trying to open and close. It does it with the radio/CD off. Any suggestions?

Maybe pull the fuse for the radio and eliminate that issue?

It sounds like you are on the right track with it being related to the climate control system. Does only happen with the blower fan on? Could be the blower fan itself.

It’s not the fan. It’s either the CD player or something mechanical above it. It’s not over in the fan area. It’s like something is trying to open or close.

Well you do have an 02 so I think that has actual blend door motors. Maybe one of them has stripped teeth and it just keeps going trying to open or close a blend door? Have you messed around with climate control settings to see if air is always being sent where you select it (keeping in mind that the side vents and crotch vents are always open)?
