Hot dipstick level after transmission cooler install.
Hello.
After adding a Hayden 699 cooler, I've been trying to check my trans fluid level regularly.
One thing I've noticed is that its very hard to get it hot (which is good), but confusing to me as to what the fluid level should be at.
Since the fluid is always much colder, is it normal for it to stay within the cold range all of the time, or should I fill to hot after I've definitely gone on a long drive?
Obviously the easiest way to know for sure is to get a laser thermometer, but I'm trying to avoid spending $20.
And even that will probably be off.
Basically what I'm wondering is, is it normal for the trans dipstick to always be at the cold mark with a huge trans cooler, or should it still get and stay hot, so as to also read hot on the dipstick after a definitely long drive?
