TEQ retrofits, reliable?

Fixing to pull the trigger on retrofits. They offer a DIY kit or an “OEM+” built that doesn’t have any of the fancy halos, demon eyes, etc.

I’ve seen some negative posts but was thinking they might be getting dragged into the BXBuilt fiasco. Is TEQ worth spending my money on?

I’m sure I could DIY, but my reflectors are faded and if I factor in new housings I’m almost at their built price.

Timmy the Toolman and Sean like TEQ Customs Headlights. We just installed some on our rigs and we like them. It's too early to comment on the longevity, but they do look to be well built, and I know the guys who run it, and they are good dudes.

You could easily DIY for half of TEQ's price. Need to weigh your time and enjoyment of going DIY vs the savings.

I’ve considered their DIY route, but my reflectors and housing are faded and if I factor in prices for new reflectors and their DIY kit price I’m close enough to their built price to justify it. A days worth of work is certainly fulfilling but time is worth something too.

If I order their DIY kit, is it as simple and pulling my headlamps apart and installing the projectors?

Apparently they’re having a Labor Day sale so I picked up the “OEM+” headlights since I’m not interested in halos or anything else. They said 1 week turnaround so we’ll see about that.

I didn't look at their DIY kit, but yes, it's that simple. You do have to bake the headlight to separate the glass from the housing.

A set of brand new Depo's with glass lenses is $100. Depending on what parts you buy, you could keep the whole project under $200.

Update: I ordered the TEQ OEM+ retrofits during their Labor Day sale. Lights arrived today less than a week later. They installed in less than an hour, and they look great. Best thing I’ve done to the 4Runner by far. Light output is incredible and focused so I’m not blinding others.

How have you been liking them? I need to upgrade my 96' from stock and thinking this is the best route in the long run. And like you said the price difference isn't far off from DIY. I think these TEQ OEM+ lights are the only decent looking ones I've seen, I'm more into the stock look rather than having my truck look like a transformer..
