TEQ Customs - Outboard Shock Mount Kit

Hi,

Has anybody in here installed this kit?

Outboard Shock Mount Kit / 96-02 4Runner
– TEQ Customs LLC

Is there a need for wheel spacers? The website says stock wheels with 4.75" BS will allow one to run 2" dia shocks with no mention of spacers although in some of their pics wheel spacers are present.

Thanks!

I contacted them about it. This is a Snowbound Customs product. They said with my setup, 2" dobinsons and 265/75R16 I wouldn't need wheel spacers. Hope that helps.

Looking into these too. Curious to see if anyone runs these?

there's a guy in here who developed a design that he said was based on the N215 4Runner design but iirc, it would require a wheel spacer.

also, I'm not sure if he was planning on doing some mass fabbing and selling

TEQ Customs - Outboard Shock Mount Kit

I love mine and took ten minutes to weld each one on.

My Build and Repair thread has the install. But, I’m thinking about creating a new thread for the install.

No backspacing required. I think snowbound mentions it will take a 2” shock and still have clearance.

Did it improve the ride quality? What do you like about it?

I mostly like it for accessibility and ease of installation.

Ride quality wise, it may be a little firmer. However, going over bumps in a turn at speed seems more controlled. And my Gabriel’s are not the softest of rear shocks.

Also it looks close to something I was going to fab up anyway.

been running like this for a while

started here
https://www.toyota-4runner.org/3739060-post246.html

https://www.toyota-4runner.org/3739977-post249.html

https://www.toyota-4runner.org/3741921-post250.html

it's been fine and I don't really notice a huge difference between the stock ride on my other 98 and the outboard shock mounts.

The huge difference is swapping shocks in and out... if you’re wanting to do that the outboard is like 2 mins. if you wanted to run longer shocks it's totally an option, I just have not tried it yet. I posted all the .dxf files so if you want to have my design cut and can weld it's an option.

been working on the land cruiser project aka huge money pit.
