Alpine is great. I have there amps and speakers.

As a side note I had been using my smart phone for all this fancy head unit stuff for years and it was awesome. Even remote video viewing.

Well, that explains it…..not a 3rd Gen. Sadly I was hoping you got them to fit in our older rigs.

I am a firm believer you can mod anything if you really want to. Even if you go old school and mount them to the outside trim and use the grill covers it could work. 6x9's sound great. I'm seriously contemplating putting 6x9's in my hatch that has 6.5's this way.

Well that's another rabbet hole. When I researched some were $300. lol But it looks like you can pick them up for under $100, just confirm what's compatible with your head unit. The price point you are likely looking for brand wont matter much.

Have you seen the door on a 3rd gen? Putting 6x9s on the outside of the door panel would look like garbage IF you could even cut a hole big enough for them to fit and just cause the panel to vibrate like crazy. Not to mention the weight of the speaker would probably make the panel pop off the door in that bottom corner when it closes or you hit a rough road or a bump

I have a 2013 Corolla NAV stereo in my 3rd Gen. I can do some modding. The T1819 Scion radio I had put in first was a thumping kick butt radio but I wanted NAV.

I put in the ILX-W650 and love it. Just make sure you rip out the stock amp that sits between the stereo and your speakers if you have it. I had also installed Alpine 6.5s in the front and 3.5s in the rear, and the audio sounded like garbage until I realized that amp was in place. Once it was gone, it was nothing but beautiful, clear, loud sound.

I agree, don’t do 6x9s in the door. It’s overkill. You will have to do a little tomfoolery and retrofitting for 6.5s (minimal work), but I had to build a custom mount for my 3.5s as the screw holes wouldn’t line up and I didn’t have a mount kit. I purchased two cutting boards from the dollar store, traced the outline of the existing speaker mount, and then cut them to fit my new speakers - worked great, and can’t beat the price!

Finally, I purchased a 12” Alpine sub and amp (yes, it was a huge Alpine sale!), wired it up, and the sound is amazing.

For camera, I got this one off of Amazon: Amazon.com

No problems at all, and I used portions of Phorunner’s camera install guide (on YouTube) for the install. One thing I will say - get an extension cable to go between the camera and the wiring harness. It minimizes the cable thickness you have to snake through the rear hatch, as it is a TIGHT fit on my 97. I went with a 10’ extension. I’m very happy with the camera, and cut the yellow wire so that I can use the head unit’s parking guides. They are adjustable, which is quite helpful. I’ll go for a front camera next…

Here's my mock setup for now, just have amp and sub left. It looks amateurish, but I'm not trying to win any rewards for style. I just want it to sound good.
