Overhead Console/Maplight Mounting

Hi. I've recently noticed my overhead console becoming loose and falling while driving. When removed, it appears the mounting point has been chewed away, leaving no place for it to attach to.

I'm unsure of what it looked like originally and likewise unsure of what to replace to fix the problem. Would this require a new sunroof motor? Do I need to drop the headliner? I've owned this vehicle for a couple years now, but have never messed with the sunroof, headliner, or console before now.

The u-nut and bolt that are supposed to hold on to that area are visible in your picture there. If you can rig something up that holds the u-nut in the same position as it was stock, you shouldn't need anything else to be replaced.

Access the fastener by popping off the lens for the map lights.

JB weld stick or putty might work to rebuild the broken plastic and give the u nut something to grab on to.

Kinda looks like you could cut a little tab with two holes in it and use that as the location for the u-nut. I'm non-sunroof, and the equivalent bolt goes into a stamped sheet metal piece in roof structure...
