BTW, thank you again for all you super-informative answers! Without helpful people like you and the other posters on this forum, I'd probably be dealing with a busted transmission in the near future.
From a transmission longevity standpoint, it won't make much difference either way. Many on here drive in "power" mode all the time.

I sell the 4runner transmission cooler kits. I hear from my customers they can reduce the temps by 30 degrees F or more.

That's cool you make a bracket for transmission coolers. I tell you what, I'll link your kit in the video description of two videos I have on the subject. Look at the parts list and you'll see the link to your bracket.

@phattyduck or anyone else, Is there a definitive consensus on what exactly the ECT does? It obviously raises shift rpm's, but does it change the torque converter lock up strategy? Does it change anything else like say fueling tables or anything if the sort?

I want to say in the several hours I've spent searching that topic, I think there's only one thread that actually goes into it specifically. I should have probably booked marked it....

Oh man, I really like your kit but it looks like it might not fit on my 4runner as my bumper overlaps the rail that the lower section of your bracket attaches to. Or am I maybe looking at it the wrong way?

Was looking at pic you really should clearance the cutout around freon line or bend line.
Condenser flex's with body bumper rigid with frame it will rub a hole in the line.

Best way to go about it if you want to find out cause and effect of mods.
OE skid covers 1" of fins and bottom cap right at 3" of radiator noticed temp difference with it off.
OE skid better than nothing and it's enough for wheeling I do.

Thanks! Yes you are correct, my bracket won't work with that bumper. Is it a Coastal Offroad?

Shift points, mainly. It *might* have a slight effect on lockup, but its minor. Absolutely no change in fueling or timing tables for the engine.

Where there's a will, there's a way. Grinder to the bumper, mount the cooler on the back side, spacers as needed, etc. There's plenty of room left in there for a trans cooler.

I custom mounted my cooler - it sits behind everything, right next to the AC condenser so the fan pulls as much air through it as possible. Modified the upper and lower condenser mounts, etc. I also used a thermostat on the cooling system to minimize overcooling in the winter. There's now a winch control box in there, and it all still fits...

Yes it is. They make 2 versions for the 3rd gen 4runner and I got the one that is extra low-profile. Their other bumper might have more clearance.

Oh wow, I really like how your cooler is shorter but goes all the way across. Can you tell me what kind of cooler that is?

Also, I assume you do not have a Coastal Offroad bumper? It seems like it will be a very tight fit to get both a cooler and a winch to fit in mine.

It'll go but it's a fight. I've got a lot of snakeskin and cut up fuel hose in there to prevent chafing.
