Code P1121 APPS Help

Yesterday during a road trip I lost all acceleration power at the pedal and pulled off to the side of the road.
My code reader showed a P1121 (accelerator pedal position sensor range / performance problem)

I cleared the codes and was able to keep driving until my CEL light came back 20-30 miles later.

After reading online it sounds like it could be the APPS sensor on the throttle body itself and the whole throttle body will need to be replaced.

Has anyone had this code and was able to fix this problem without spending $400+ on a new TB?
It seems like replacing just the Throttle Position Sensor won't do the trick.
