Stereo question, head units 2002 & 2007 plug-n-play swappable?

Curious if a 2007 head unit is plug-n-play compatible with a 2002 wires.

My cd player is eating them and if I'm pulling stuff apart might as well upgrade.
😉

Thanks in advance!

Per Crutchfield tech support:

Head units are plug-n-play except for:

2002
Pin #9 pink/blue wire auxiliary amp control.
No steering wheel remote control plug-in.

2007
Pin #9 blank.
Steeing wheel control plug-in.

Simple fix!
😉

There is a thread called something like The ultimate Scion radio thread in the radio section. It lists a lot of upgrades and whats required.

I installed a 2012 T1819 Scion radio in two 3rd Gens. 300w and center channel rca output.
