odd noise started yesterday

I tried uploading the audio file but it won't work. but when i accelerate it causes a subtle whirring/whining noise. it's less with coasting but still there. nothing looks weird with belts, fan, etc. i wish i could upload the recording. it's almost like a higher pitched "crystal glass of water" sound if you know what i mean. when you swirl the finger on a glass and create the bowl effect

Does it exactly match the engine RPM every time or does it alter at idle and driving away from a stop?

First guess; Power steering pump system, pulley, belt pump it self.

upon startup there's a faint noise. then once i press the accelerator it gets noisier and i can't tell if its RPM dependent or just speed bc it does it just coasting at 60 or revving not in gear too.

This may be off the mark, but poorly lubed drive-line joints and double-cardans can make a wide variety of hard-to-diagnose squeaking, whistling, and whining noises. I was sure I had belt or internal transmissions issues until I came across a thread like this one and got things lubed up: Drive/Prop Shaft Greasing Guide

Been silent ever since. Just a thought.

I've had a similar noise while accelerating that would only appear in cold weather. It turned out to be my alternator pulley; I've since put in a CS144 using the same belt and it's been solid.

just watched a video of a whining alternator and the guy removed the harness while it was running and the whine went away. Mine wasn't as loud as the one in the video but sure enough it was quieter. I still here a whirring when accelerating but i had the hood open so idk. Guess i'll put an alternator in there and see what happens.

Manually open the throttle valve with your hand with the engine running and hood open. It's the spring loaded thing here. Just rotate it and it'll be just like pressing the gas. Should help with finding the noise.

It has more amps to drive winch, amp, comms equipment etc. There is a whole thread about CS144 swap as well as big 3 upgrade; replacing oem wiring with thicker gauge for better performance.

In addition to the noise being gone, it sure is nice seeing constant 14.6V and no more corrosion on battery's positive terminal. It was definitely time to replace mine.

Have you recently had the timing belt replaced? Now that its colder out, in the morning, one of the bearing for the idler, or tensioner, or water pump could be squealing like mine just started doing. I had my timing belt replaced a few months ago. The noise goes away after a few miles after things warm up on mine. These parts are very close in relation to the alternator and the power steering pump. Just one of the many possibilities.
