Replacement starter brand quandary

If you bought a Denso reman from Rockauto, very foolishly did not test it before installing it, and found that it was bad out out the box, would you exchange it for yet another Denso that may also be bad, or would you get a new AC Delco, for about the same price?

Being owned by GM, I don't have much faith in AC Delco, but maybe they make decent stuff. Maybe my Denso was rebuilt at 4:00 on a Friday, and the next one would be good, or maybe not. I am having trouble deciding.

Anyone else here ever get a bad remanufactured anything from Denso, or have either good/bad experience with AC Delco stuff? I am only interested in hearing bad stuff about Denso, as I am aware that their stuff is generally considered good.

well if you enjoy twisting wrenches.....then a bad thing about denso is that you wont have to replace as often as other brands or rebuilts....so less wrench work to do

Clearly another Denso... The right answer is to put new contacts and plunger in your original, but that train has sailed for you.

So when mine started going out last year I tried to replace the contacts/plunger, but since it wasn’t a stock part I couldn’t get the replacement bits to work just right. So after the 3rd time having to remove the starter I bought a new TYC branded unit and it’s worked great for me. If you still happen to have a stock unit, I’d say get new contacts/plunger like mentioned above and just swap them out (real quick job). Pulling the starter was the worst part of the job. Just my 2-cents.
