Lug nuts for Steel Wheels

Just picked up a good used set of Nokian Hakkapeliitta R2 SUV winter tires on steel wheels.

Is it ok to use the wheel nuts that I use with my aluminum wheels?

Depends on what seat pattern the wheels are. There are 4 different lug nut/seat patterns if I remember - acorn/tapered, extended tapered, washer/flange nut, and ball/round.

Last I checked, you can get official Toyota tapered lug nuts, which are recommended for the OEM tapered steel wheels. The owner's manual says you can use the flat washer nuts on the steel spare, but I got a set of steel nuts for use on my spare if I need it.

This - the OEM flat-washer lug nuts have a small taper seat for temporary spare use. Get a set of standard lug nuts for longer-term use.

My spare is now a 16" late first gen Tacoma/early Tundra aluminum wheel now, so no worries since the lug type matches...

Thanks for the info.
Looks like most lug nuts that are 12x1.5 - with a 60 degree conical will work.
I ended up getting them mounted on a spare set of factory aluminum wheels I had in stock.
