Unhappy power door locks operate by themselves

1999 sr5 v6 my power door locks have a mind of their own. They operate by themselves while driving or even when stopped and trying to lock or unlock the door. Any idea's ? is there a separate relay/ fuse for door locks only?

Help please
Bill

First thing to check would be the door jamb wiring, looking for cracked insulation and frayed wiring. Second would be the power door lock switches themselves.

There is a fuse for the power locks, but it is also used by a variety of other devices as well: Fuse Box Diagram Toyota 4Runner (N180; 1995-2002)

If any of my doors are not closed fully, then the door locks lock and unlock randomly.
I'm guessing they are activating the switch in the door jam as I go over little bumps.

I had this same issue, I'm sure it's something else, but I'll toss this out anyway.

Mine came to a head when I hopped out of the truck and it locked the doors behind me, and cost me $150 for a lock smith since LUCKILY, I had my phone in my pocket, rather than in the truck....

Got an electrical aftermarket accessories?

I had an alarm system that also had a kill switch so the truck won't respond if someone broke in and hotwired it.

Removed that, after noting the problem went away after I disconnected it's power supply. 6 or 7 years gone now? No problems.

A short somewhere would be my guess, but I'm not smart, and I'm lazy, so ripping it out was faster and easier once it seemed to help with the problem.

I had a similar issue earlier this year that while driving my doors would randomly unlock. Since I'm mostly driving by myself, I figured the issue was either the drivers door switch or a faulty ground. In my case, I just removed the screws from the switch, examined them and then screwed them back in. Shockenly that worked. Haven't had any issues since

Good luck as electrical stuff can be a PITA

I had this issue also and I think it was because it was raining and water got into the door panel switch and was causing it to lock for me. A day or 2 later after it dried out it stopped and hasn't happened since.
