Is my seatbelt supposed to go through this thing?
2001 SR5, but I suppose other gens have a similar piece.
It is part number 73117-35011
Seems like the belt closest to the wall should be threaded through this, yet on both front belts, it does not. I can probably figure out how to do it, but it may be a pain, so want to verify before starting.
Thanks to anyone who can help.

Perhaps add a wider photo that gives us a better idea of the geography. I can't tell what this closeup is looking at.

It's the pillar between the front & rear doors, where the front seat seatbelt retractor/pretensioner is located. Shown with the plastic cover removed. In this photo, the belt is hiding it.

I had considered that, that it was a barrier to keep the belt from rubbing the wires/connectors that run up that pillar, but then why is it shaped with a cutout that looks exactly like a belt oughta be threaded through it?

That *is* the passenger side. But driver side looks the same.

Went back and found some old pictures during my full interior removal/clean... The belts do not go through those.

Charlie, thanks very much. Isn't that weird though? That piece looks designed specifically to hold a belt. I was ready to cut a slit in it to thread the belt through easily.

IMHO IF the belt was routed through that metal piece I would think after some time it would put undue wear on the belt!

How would the belt have gotten OUT of it during the truck's history? It still works as a belt guide in concert with the inner side of the plastic cover.

Ah, this truck had a front impact in its history, so I figured the belts were replaced and maybe installed sloppily. There's lots about this truck that support that theory.....lol
