'98 Front Passenger Power Window INOP

This is my son's vehicle... I just pay to have things fixed or fix it myself!

The power window on the front passenger side stopped working. It will not work from the driver's side either. The relay in the fuse box by the kick panel is fine, and I am not aware of any other fuses involved.

I work out of town often, and to save time I ordered a new window motor. I installed that this morning... still no power. I am thinking the switch itself... can someone walk me through checking that - or what else I should check?

You'll need to find the diagrams for a 96, 97 or 98 4Runner and follow the wires for the power windows (the '99-'02 power window wiring is different). It can also be broken wires in the door harness (of either the driver or passenger doors).

The diagrams can also be (legally!) downloaded from the Toyota TIS system if you pay for a short membership. That's what I used to get diagrams to do my 4WD swap...

I got ‘em. Wanted to do a continuity check on the switch but I realized the rear window switches share the wiring harness so I swapped one in up front to test. It was the switch.

Did you disassemble the switch and clean it or replace it with another switch?
