projection bulbs

OK I know I am going to get roasted for this but here goes....
I dont have the $$$ or physical ability anymore to mod the lenses or buy ones that are allready modded, but really want to upgrade my lights. Not a fan of HID and really prefer LED but not in a hurry to blind everyone around me. Was looking for replacement bulbs and stumbled across projector LED bulbs. I am wondering if I use them should I remove the reflector/shield dome from in front of the bulb to allow it to go straight forward?
hope this link worked correctly

Modern LEDs are designed to use the OEM housings including the reflector and shields there and they use similar shields built into the LED housing to mimick the non-glaring lighting

So use as is - do not alter your housings or the LEDs. Luck and enjoy the Runner.

I bought a set of mini projector H4s from AliExpress last year for something like 20$, work great as of July 2024 and don't have any glare either. I did have to remove that middle reflector thing that goes in front of the regular bulbs, but they work great.

Forget the projectors, just swap in some higher wattage bulbs. Cheaper and the light quality is really good.

@gamefreakgc shared the solution with us. Check post #3

Drop-in headlight upgrade?

My 100W/80W bulbs have been great all these years. Highly recommend it as a low-cost solution to improve the lights.

You have to remove the glare shield for those to work

Yes they have a sharp cutoff but at the expense of really narrow beam width - original halogens were wider.

possibly my favorite easy mod for these vehicles. I've recommended this to all my buddies too, they all run the 80/100W bulbs now. Thanks again for this

If was still running the shop and had full use of my body I could do the upgrade.
Am out on workers comp for shoulders then got rear ended (new liftgate and complete rear bumper but her 2011 pilot was totaled whe trailer hitch hit her engine). So kinda limited funding and ability so might just stick wth "normal" LED and install factory fogs.
Bad enough I had to watch somebody else replace front pads and rack & pinion

Did little bit of searching and drew a blank. What is the bulb number your talking about or is it just an up powered 9003? Can they be run without harness or am I looking at a meltdown in wires or lens? I can build a harness at my desk and have my son do the actual "work" part of it but just found out the headlight that was failing is now Hi and Low dead.

Bulbs:
Amazon.com

Wiring harness;
https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0...?ie=UTF8&psc=1

These are the materials I used. The bulb is an H4 bulb, so you will need a wiring harness to power the lights, since the ground spot is switched on these. The harness is plug & play, you just connect the harness to your existing headlight plugs, then plug the bulbs into the new harness. I believe you also have to hook the harness to the battery to draw power if I remember correctly. The headlight stalk still functions as it should. I've been running this setup about a year now, and no issues with the extra heat.

ordered the bulbs and harness

Bought the silverstar top rated and they were crap compared to my LED bulbs. So ordered the set up you mentioned. Got a link to the wire diagram so I can walk my son through the install?

The diagram is listed if you go to the link I sent.

I had silverstars too at one point, nothing close to the 80/100W Hella bulbs tho
