Good point @Robb235 , it has been some years since I've pulled my injectors. Rock auto has a good selection of injector seals too. Just depends how quick you need them.

Looks like Oreilly’s has it as well, p/n 158-0893.
Interesting take! I thought those grommets were just dust caps or something. How are those holes supposed to work if there's a grommet covering them? I actually don't remember seeing holes there, gonna try to find some pics in my phone's albums

EDIT

I found this picture of a 5vzfe intake manifold on Google. You can pretty clearly see the little air holes in the fuel injector ports. Makes a lot of sense.

Even explains why I only have high trims at idle and on low throttle acceleration. Under load the supercharger is boosting so it becomes a boost leak instead which wouldnt cause a lean condition by sucking in unmetered air.

Small update on this.

Motorwest has been very nice to work with and have seen this issue with 1 other customer who was also supercharged. They said that changing back to the older style brown injectors fixed the issue and offered to replace my current set.

I'm wondering if I should go that route or at least try solving this sealing issue with my current set. I'd like to avoid going back to the old style injectors because it would be considered somewhat of a downgrade (there's a known issue with them affecting longevity)

I had 2 ideas to try and get a tighter seal:

Find a thin washer that can sit between the injector body and the upper grommet (where the red lines are in the pic) such that it slightly increases the overall height of the body which should result in greater sealing pressure on the lower sealing grommet

Or machine a couple thousandths off of the length of the fuel rail spacers which would achieve the same effect by slightly lowering the fuel rail instead of lengthening the injectors

What do you guys think about these ideas? Should I just try the brown injectors or do my mods seem feasible?

Honestly I'd machine the spacers a bit to get a better seal and replace the seals. If that doesn't work, then hit up a junkyard and grab another set. It's going to be hard or expensive to find a shim that will clear the injector hole and have a big enough id for the injector.

If you have access to a lathe then you can do whatever you like. It's good to hear MW is working with you. It's hard to find a good company and customer support now a days.

My thoughts exactly. I'll pull an injector, hit up a hardware store or 2 and if i can't find some that could work then i'll throw the spacers in the lathe. Now that I think about it i just need to find a thin enough shim with a reasonable OD then I can stick em in the mill for the ID. TBH modding the spacers sounds like less hassle but the shims are less "permanent"

If none of that works then I'll get the replacements from MW and find some junkyard spacers while waiting for shipping.

Hopefully one of these options works out so I can get back to wheeling

After trimming 0.030" off the fuel rail spacers the injectors sat much tighter. There was absolutely 0 space for up-and-down motion and very minimal rotational motion.

Still leaks by . I'm charging the system with <1psi of air and it's blowing by the injector's lower grommet almost as much as it was before.

Also for some reason it's only happening at the injector on cylinder 1. I also checked the one at cyl 2, 3, and 5 but can't really get to 4 and 6 with the supercharger in place.

I think it's time to take up Motorwest on their offer and see if that helps
