OEM Radiator

So I am in the process of replacing the transmission on the wifeys 2002 SR5 Sport as it bit the dust last week. The guy at Yota1 Performance where i bought the trans said i need to replace the radiator and to get an OEM unit. So I looked up the radiator on my local dealerships website and there are 2 units. one is $587 and the other is $181? So what the heck is going on? Any help is highly appreciated.

2 or 4wd? When I look it up (2wd) I get - 16400-75181 $380

When I did mine I just got a Denso branded one off amazon - yeah I know but it arrived well packed - fit perfectly and works just fine - I think it was about 120 but that was 2+ yrs ago.

Don't forget hoses and cap. Gonna put an external in-series cooler? I used a hayden 699 (flows at 185) and it works fantastic.

So I just talked to the local dealership parts guy and he can't get the the $181 radiator anymore and those are aftermarket anyway. The only one he could get is the factory one @ $587. The guy at Yota1 where I am getting my transmission said to absolutely replace the radiator because you can never get it completely cleaned out of any/all debris from the old unit. I don't have an issue with that sentiment but I am not going to pay $587 for a damn factory unit either. So I will search online for a Denso which I believe is what is in there now from when I did the heads last winter. Thank you!

Check it out look at the specs. I have one on the shelf get around to it job for me.
3 core vs OE single core, cooler eliminates milkshake way more heat transfer.

Edit: Only have 7 years on Denso replacement atm.

This is True - so also don't forget to flush hard lines from trans to/from coolers.

I threw away my old external cooler and just got a new one along with hoses.

The trans will be empty of fluid so get what you need ready for that. Best of Luck.

I am replacing a ton of stuff to the tune of $815 so far. New steel transmission lines are on the list as well as radiator hoses, clamps, the list goes on. I found the OEM Denso radiator on Rock Auto for $149.72 total to my door.

So how does this radiator eliminate the milkshake issue? This radiator is almost twice the cost of the OE Denso unit and the original lasted over 200k miles. This is a daily driver for my wife it does see a lot of offroading. I like the idea of a 3 core unit but I honestly don't think I need to go that far with this thing. And that radiator is out of stock anyway. Thank you for the suggestion I do appreciate you taking the time.

Edited my post before seeing your post. Only 7 yrs. on Denso from Rock.

Milkshake is synthetic seal related welded hardlines the difference.
The original made in better days, 200k+ has been inflation adjusted to 100k mi max.
Your use Denso good choice found I need more offroad. Just copied link didn't open my bad.
