drivers side rear door with power locks

my drivers side rear door opened normally but when i went to shut it -it wont shut. its not hitting anything, it closes softly but just wont latch. so i looked up a latch assy part number 69340-35140 but toyota says discontinued. has anyone had this issue? i would appreciate some advice, thx

i've been looking some more and i was wondering if it could be a bad actuator, amayama seems to have the latches and the actuators, but i'm only guessing at the problem

You can get used ones and remanufactured ones on eBay, if you look hard enough you may even find a new one there and very likely aftermarket ones as well.

I'm not sure that part is your issue or not, I just searched the part number you provided, if you look at the product description/Item specifics on that eBay auction it has that part number listed.

That being said that eBay item appears to be the entire assembly, i.e. the latch and actuator not just the actuator.

Before I would buy anything, I'd open up the door panel. See if any of the arms are jammed or something else is causing the problem. The rear catches and actuator motor are easy to remove compared to the fronts.

Actuator is for locking and unlocking function only. Check whether the door opener arm located inside of the door is functioning. If you want to fix the actuator, replace just the electric motor for like $7.

Most the time if it’s electronic it’s the actuator not opening all the way or at all from corrosion or just normal wear and tear of being used
