New guy showing off the new truck

I just picked up a '98 Limited 2WD with 155k miles last week. It was in sorry shape when I got it. The interior was so disgusting it made me want to puke. The front end had a little damage as well. I pretty much stole this vehicle for $3500. It cleaned up really well. This is going to be my daily driver while my '93 Full Size Bronco gets a SAS makeover.

Are there any places that offer replacement interior panels besides the junkyard? The plastic piece that goes around the ignition is missing.

One other question I've got is what is the difference between 96-98 vs 99-02? I know they are all considered 3rd gen, but when looking through parts catalogs I've seen them listed differently.

The 4Runner really did clean up nice, the interior looks great. You can probably find the ignition piece on ebay.

I think the differences are the front clip and cup holder location.

Do you want to know exterior or interior changes?

Hell thats a steal at 3500 bucks man . I still cant get used to seeing the term " 2 WD 4Runner " . Never seen one before ,ever . Must be a US only thing .
I have a 98 Ltd. as well and can honestly say the only one thing I dont like is where they put the cup holder . You have your coffee in there in the morning and its crappy even seeing the heater controls let alone trying to adjust them . Would like to see a pic of a 99 and see how they put the different cupholders in . Be nice to make it like a 99 .

96-98 vs 99-02 interiror. 99-02 has completely new center stack, a/c area. 96-98 Sliders have been replaced with knobs, and cupholders moved from lower upper console, now to Ebrake area. Ebrake areas is also all new for 99-02.

96-98 vs 99-02 exterior. Chrome bumpers are no longer offered for limited models for 99-02's. Front bumper completely redesigned for 99-02. Headlights updated to clear version for 99-02's. Tailights updated to jewled look in 2001.

These are the majors. I also sell most of these updgrades on the website, headlights, tails, clear corners, interior, etc, etc.

Thanks for the info. The cupholders bug the crap out of me. Good thing to know about the bumpers as that is one thing that needs to be replaced.

It is a good thing this is 2WD otherwise I'd have another wheeling rig.
