Cost of a Timing Belt

How much did it cost all of you to get your timing belt changed. The Dealer quoted me 590 for the TB, Water Pump, and Drive Belts.

at ~ 110k i did the timing belt, drive belts, and water pump at a local shop for $550. they did however keep it for three days. if you can get a dealership to get it done in a day for under $600 then i would jump on that.

here's a thread for a smilar topic for more reading:

best of luck!

That's a good deal, if it's from a Toyota Dealership. I was quoted around $1000.

If the dealer quoted you that, thats a steal.

I need to get it done unfortunetly and I would rather a Toyota Tech do it then my local shop...

dam TB hurts the wallet so much! its good to know a Toyota/Honda tech or have a bunch of Honda junkies as friends. Only if you guys were living in California, Bay Area i wouldnt mind calling my friends to help out.

I paid 450 for timing belt, water pumpt and drive belts at a Toyota dealership about a year ago on my 2000 runner.

The quotes you guys are mentioning seem outragous, check more places because it looks like you're getting ripped off.

for what it's worth....

i know i don't live anywhere near any of the rest of you guys, but in the beginning of the year when i got my stuff done, mall of georgia toyota quoted me $640 and they'd only need the truck for 6 hours - they offered to ferry me back and forth to work while they did the job.

i went with the local shop... who were cheaper... but kept if for three days... and were smoking in the shop heavily while my truck doors/windows were open. so it stunk (we're a non smoking family) for about a week. haven't used them again, but the old adage about hindsight still holds true.
